The Plight of Black America
The culture of death in America has had an acutely negative effect on the African American community—the descendents of enslaved Africans who endured 400 years of chattel slavery, segregation, disenfranchisement, and discrimination.
The remnants of this inhumane institution have left virtually every black community in America is a state of physical and spiritual disarray. On almost any social indicator, black Americans suffer inequality compared to the general population: income, unemployment, health (including HIV/AIDS), education, marriage, incarceration, housing/home ownership, business ownership, net worth, and poverty.
In the nearly 150 years since the abolition of slavery in America, no official measure initiated by the U.S. government, outside of civil rights legislation, has effectively or seriously impacted the devastating effects of the dehumanization of African Americans. Their suffering has been met not with scientific solutions, but with ineffective social programs and a punitive arena for those who are deemed unreachable.
In the midst of this great social blight, a gem can be found that is hidden from the casual observer. Far away from the learned scholars and astute political pundits, nestled in the expanse of the sparsely populated counties of Alabama’s Black Belt, sits a revolutionary experiment in human and community development. |

Citizens for Research Education And Community Hope, Inc. was established in September 1977 through assemblies of Pentecostal churches. It is a self-help, non-profit 501(c)3 organization, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.
REACH Inc. was formed to aid underprivileged and abused children, misguided young adults, court appointed first offenders, unwed mothers, the homeless and welfare recipients looking for a hand up and not just a hand out.
Over the years, REACH Inc. has been an asset in several communities, helping those in need through many facets of life, providing shelter, food, clothing, education, guidance, and work.
Drugs, alcohol, weapons, gangs and violence have captivated our society, leaving many hopeless and helpless. Research has discovered that there is nothing new under the sun; situations have just gotten worse. Education is the most effective weapon in the world today. Community involvement collectively reigns hope to a diminishing society.
REACH Inc. has been addressing and granting refuge from these crisis for almost 30 years, without any aid from the government.
Children are our future! It is therefore a priority of ours to protect and help them lead productive lives.
Again, REACH, Inc. is stepping up! On 16 acres of land, we have built a dormitory that will house 100 boys and free them from the inner city lifestyle that has corrupted our society. This property entails a boys dormitory, two apartments for the caretakers, and a playground, complete with five giant waterslides. Unfortunately, we have come to a standstill. Our funds are depleted, and we need the sewage and other infrastructure as soon as possible, fixtures for the buildings and more playground equipment.
For this reason, we are soliciting help from you or your company to help us finish this project. Your monetary contribution is tax-deductible and highly appreciated.
To show our gratitude for your support, we are building a Wall of Sponsors that will have your company’s name engraved in brick. This measure will be an everlasting memorial of your sponsorship.
Amid adversity and setbacks, we are determined more than ever to serve our communities by helping people help themselves.
Therefore, the members of REACH, Inc. solicit your monetary donation to help us keep this great mission afloat.
